Job Summary

Our organization is seeking a qualified Emergency Planner oversees incident-related data gathering and analysis regarding incident operations/emergency management and assigned resources, facilitates incident action planning meetings, and prepares the Incident Action Plan (IAP) for each operational period.

Essential Functions:

  1. Determining Essential Elements of Information (EEIs) in coordination with the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and creating reporting templates.
  2. Collecting EEIs from interagency, state, local, and non-governmental responders and IMT(s), if activated.
  3. Preparing an incident action plan (IAP) template and aggregating IAPs.
  4. Synthesizing EEIs and preparing reports for response leadership (e.g., response-wide situation reports (SITREPs) and senior leadership briefs.
  5. Reviewing and updating resources for repatriates (e.g., one-pagers)
  6. Drafting activation and deactivation notice(s) for Incident Commander approval
  7. Supporting development of external communications to the public as needed
  8. Coordinating retention of appropriate ERT and response-wide documentation, with support from the Information Management unit, if activated
  9. Documenting strengths, gaps, and challenges across OHSEPR operations and the broader response
  10. Creating a demobilization plan
  11. Facilitating the after-action review process and developing internal and external after-action reports (AARs)

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of professional experience in Emergency Planning or Emergency Management.
  • Relevant experience can be in program management
  • Ability to identify risk proactively, recommended mitigating actions.
  • PMI Agile Certified Practitioner certification a plus
  • Experience with leading quality assurance and supporting documentation, to ensure products meet defined requirements
  • Experience in a flexible environment
  • FEMA courses a plus

Working Conditions/Physical Effort:

Work is performed mostly in an office setting. Some travel, public speaking, evening, and weekend work are requirements of the position. Regular computer work is also required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; finger, handle, or feel objects, or controls; reach; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
