Priority Patient Transport hires EMTs with exceptional customer service and patient care skills, who recognize the larger role of EMS in the healthcare system. Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or higher
- Should have a good driving record for those planning to drive company vehicles
- Should have a clean criminal background
- Must pass a 10-panel drug screen prior to employment
- Need a current CPR card
- Need a current Virginia EMT certification or the ability to get reciprocity before hire
The EMT must demonstrate competency in handling emergencies utilizing basic life support equipment and skills in accordance with the objectives of the US Department of Transportation National EMS Education Standards to include having the ability to:
- Verbally communicate in person, via telephone and telecommunications using the English language
- Hear spoken information from co-workers, patients, physicians, and dispatchers and in sounds common to the emergency scene
- Ability to lift, carry, and balance up to 125 pounds (250 with assistance) a height of 33 inches, a distance of 10 feet
- Read and comprehend written materials under stressful conditions
- Document, physically in writing, patient information in prescribed format
- Demonstrate manual dexterity and fine motor skills, with ability to perform all tasks related to quality patient care in a safe manner
- Bend, stoop, crawl, and walk on uneven surfaces
- Meet minimum vision requirements to operate a motor vehicle within the state
Description of Tasks
- Receive, acknowledge, and respond to both emergency and non-emergency requests for patient care and transport
- Assure safe operations of equipment during interaction with and transport of the patient - protecting staff, patients, and bystanders from further injury or harm
- Provide complete and thorough assessment, recognize physical, mental, and medical conditions, and provide treatment of such conditions, fully documenting all findings and treatments utilizing specified formats in company provided applications
- Communicate with company staff, patients, families, and staff of customer facilities in a professional manner.
- Maintain vehicles, equipment, and supplies in a ready-to-respond status
- Assist with station / office chores as assigned or as needed
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while performing job duties
- Utilize time efficiently to facilitate all company activity
- Maintain certifications and complete continuing education credits as needed or as assigned by the agency or medical direction
