The Emergency Management and Continuity Analyst at NYU Department of Campus Safety ensures campus safety and resilience and maintains the University's operational continuity. Develop, implement, and maintain Emergency Management and Continuity plans designed to meet NYU's specific operational needs and challenges. Minimize operational disruptions and safeguard critical university functions through strategic planning and comprehensive risk assessments. Coordinate and lead emergency drills and exercises to ensure NYU's readiness to manage potential emergencies effectively and assess and enhance Emergency Management procedures in accordance with evolving safety standards and regulations. Additionally, support the Department's pursuit of accreditation for the Emergency Management and Continuity Program, which entails demonstrating the program's adherence to high standards of emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Homeland Security, or a similar field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in a related field or Professional certifications such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Associate Emergency Manager (AEM), or similar credentials from a recognized Emergency Management organization.
Required Experience:
2+ years of relevant experience in Emergency Management, business continuity, public safety, or a related field.
Preferred Experience:
3+ years in experience working in a global enterprise or higher education
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Thorough understanding of continuity and crisis management principles, including familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Exceptional attention to detail and proficiency in verbal and written communication, essential for effective coordination and information dissemination. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within teams and adept problem-solving skills for addressing complex challenges. Comprehensive understanding of various technology systems used in Emergency Management or the capability to acquire such technical expertise rapidly. Commitment to process enhancement to streamline operations, reduce downtime, and improve day-to-day functionality within the organization. Capable of managing multiple tasks and initiatives simultaneously, demonstrating strong organizational and prioritization skills. Skilled in identifying operational gaps and designing pragmatic solutions applicable in pre-, during, and post-crisis situations across NYU’s global operations. Additionally, completion of the following Incident Command System courses: IS 100, IS 200, IS 700, and IS 800, ensuring a foundational understanding of national incident management protocols and procedures.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of higher education Information Technology Systems. Experience with the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $68,000.00 to USD $85,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
