Overview

Axient is seeking an Embedded Systems Intern to support a summer project at NASA Ames Research Center.

Responsibilities

The project is a multi-year project and the selected intern will be supporting the first phase of the program over this summer. The first phase will be the sizing, identification, and integration of avionics hardware (cross-link, down-link, and data processing capability) for a dual cubesat system. Future summer work will involve testing, spacecraft integration, and eventual flight of the spacecraft . This is a great opportunity for a talented engineer to work with NASA and Millennium spacecraft subject matter experts, build relationships and connections, and gain an understanding of the spacecraft design, test, integration, and flight process.

    • Assess program requirements and design to meet requirements
    • Support the programming of a Micro controller system (arduino, Raspberry Pi) based on defined requirements
    • Assist with testing, verification and validation of flight hardware
    • Support mission design efforts with industry and trade studies and research

Qualifications

    • Possess strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills
    • Familiarity with IoT products and mechatronics technologies
    • Software programming and integration capability
    • Demonstrate a strong technical aptitude for electrical, computer, and/or software engineering functions
    • Practice clear interpersonal communication; have an ability and desire to work collaboratively with mission team members from various fields and backgrounds
    • Possess exceptional drive for mission success and a desire to support mission success through all tasks assigned
    • Possess an ability to work in a dynamic, team-based environment with mission-critical deadlines and deliverables
    • Must be a US citizen

Currently obtaining a Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
