Embedded Software Engineer - Integration

Description:

* Responsible for releasing HW & SW design solutions for Electronic components in the Vehicle functions or body controls and body builder specific functions, applicable for North American truck products.

* Work with global technology development teams ( Bangalore & Sweden ) to track the platform development progress and also be take part in discussions with Tier-1 supplier of components

* Follow level 4 time plan activities and milestones

* Work with component installations for radars & cameras and other ECUs is needed

* Work with truck integration team for solving issues arising due to it on the component side

* Respond to defect reports and follow the defect report process for till resolution

* Document SW configurations for various variant combinations & ESW SW release process is mandatory

* Work with Canalyzer tools and analyze log files and perform trouble shooting

* Download Software using factory, engineering & service tools

* Perform minimum smoke test on bench before delivering to integration teams

* Take part in PI planning and breakdown features to stories and tasks and follow-up though sprints

* Will need to work on trucks when needed to de-bug and trouble shoot issues

My title is technically Software Application Engineer. So my job is to take the software that is written by third party sources and input that software into our application. In this case, the application is a truck, so understanding automotive architecture is also very helpful. We don’t write software exactly, at least not normally like writing code in python or c++ but understanding it is helpful.”

Taking SW and applying to electrical systems, different components.

No writing of SW code onsite, code is written by tier one suppliers, SW delivery is then applied to the configuration of the system.

Each product type goes to a different application, person needs to know what each of the parameters mean on each truck, building experience by talking to the development team but also the vehicle team.

Knowledge of CAN & LIN networks important (once delivered to the vehicle team…they will test) necessary to have a good understanding of how the components are talking to each other on the vehicle.

For automotive, there aren't other comm protocols used.

Highly important to come from an automotive background. Hands on working on vehicles would be a big plus.

Not first choice to come from other related backgrounds (lawn mowers or heavy equipment).

Working with Embedded Software (not needed to have a development background but an understanding of how the control units speak together).

Experience working with microprocessors and microcontrollers would be really good.

Requirements will have some developing of taking existing requirements doing modifications and also writing new ones.
