We have an exciting opportunity for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team with the Engineering Division.

The Software Engineer will:

  • Develop a Common Avionics Enabler (CAE) to provide an interface for collecting data for engineering analysis and troubleshooting of Spacesuit problems experienced during on-orbit Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) on the International Space Station (ISS)
  • Decompose system requirements into software requirements
  • Develop C/C software to provide the required functionality
  • Perform software testing and verification
  • Develop software documentation
  • Participate as software Subject Matter Expert in CAE project meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requisition Qualifications:

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Strong C/C programming skills and experience within the last 2 years
  • Proficiency in C/C programming language
  • Experience with Linux Kernel and Linux device drivers
  • Experience with Linux based embedded Real-time Operating System (RTOS)
  • Experienced/Familiar with TCP/IP network topology and configuration
  • Familiar with Integrated Development Environments (IDE) Eclipse
  • Familiar with common bus protocols (RS-422 and RS-232)

Requisition Preferences:

  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and five (5) years of direct engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of direct engineering experience, or Ph.D. and zero (0) years of direct engineering experience.
  • Familiar with 1553 MIL-STD Bus Protocol
  • Experience with SoC (System on Chip)
  • Experience with ZYNQ-XILINX Software Development Kit (SDK)
  • Familiar with ZYNQ 7020 ARM Cortex A9 processor
  • Familiar with Xilinx field-programmable gate array (FPGA)

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Other Essential Functions
