Embedded Firmware Engineer

Audio Authority is a Lexington, KY based electronic design and manufacturing firm specializing in the creation of innovative electronic devices. As a result of continued growth, we are currently in search of an Embedded Firmware Engineer to complement our current team. 

Primary Duties: 

• Integrate with the engineering team to support ongoing work. 

• Design, troubleshoot, and debug Embedded Firmware for IoT-enabled devices. 

• Develop and implement inter-device communication protocols (UART, I2C, I2S, SPI, etc.). • Develop and implement firmware testing procedures and production programming processes. • Aid in the design, simulation, testing, and documentation of new product designs. • Estimate development costs and timelines. 

• Support market introduction of new products including tech. support and customer interactions. 

Desired Qualifications 

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent experience. 

• Five years of proven hands-on practical experience in embedded C and C++ for ARM Cortex-M, AVR, and/or PIC microcontrollers. 

• Current proficiency in IAR Embedded Workbench or similar firmware development package. • Experience with embedded hardware i.e., microcontrollers, DSPs, Sensors, GPIO, Ethernet/serial transceivers, and wireless technologies. 

• Familiar with lab instruments, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc. 

• Familiarity with FPGA devices. 

• Effective communicator in both spoken and written technical subject matter. 

• Previous experience in developing and integrating sensors, controls and switching devices with actuators and audio/video playing and distribution devices and systems. 

• Experience in writing specifications, generating design concepts, prototyping, troubleshooting, documentation, and manufacturing processes. 

Strongly Preferred Qualifications 

• Prior design experience with IOT devices and systems. 

• Prior experience with software development (C, C++, C#, Java, Javascript, Python, etc.) • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers
