ELL/Bilingual Paraprofessional position for assignment to Torrington Middle School (Grades 6-8). 

 

Job Summary and Functions:

 

A bilingual program paraprofessional provides assistance to an ELL/bilingual classroom teacher, performing a variety of tasks relating to the physical and instructional needs of new language learning pupils in an ELL/bilingual setting; assists in the implementation of classroom programs, including self-help and behavior management as well as instruction. A bilingual program paraprofessional performs related duties as required or assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 
  • Associate Degree and/or 60 college credits or successful passing of the Para-Pro Exam.
  • Previous experience working in a school setting or with groups of children preferred.
  • Must be bilingual, spanish
  • Warm and supportive personality with the ability to relate to children with a variety of learning levels and styles
  • Ability to maintain the rules of confidentiality and the rights of all children.
 

Terms of Employment: 10-month schedule, 183 work days, 35 hours per week. Starting pay in accordance with the collective baragaining agreement is $17.19 per hour, with comprehensive medical benefit package and tuition reimbursement.

In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, "Paraprofessionals shall not be eligible to apply for lateral positions that become vacant after August 15th. Notwithstanding the preceding sentence, paraprofessionals shall be eligible to apply for promotional opportunities at any time."
