Latin School of Chicago is seeking a Spanish Assistant Teacher for grades junior kindergarten through fourth grade. The Assistant Teacher program goals are to provide each Assistant Teacher with an authentic teaching and learning experience under the supervision of a lead Spanish teacher. The starting salary for this full-time position is $30,715, with additional stipends available. A high-quality employee-only benefits package is included.
What you’ll do as Assistant Teacher:
- Assist the lead teacher in day-to-day operation of the classroom
- Help promote a safe, clean, and orderly environment for children
- Build positive relationships with students, faculty and families
- Depending upon your interest and background, you may also:
- Assist in the development and implementation of curriculum
- Assist in instructing students as directed by lead teacher
- Grade papers and student evaluation and documentation under direction of lead teacher
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Demonstrated interest in teaching
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion of students and fellow faculty
- Dedicated to ones own learning and professional development
- Able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and stressful situations
- Positive, enthusiastic outlook
- Works well as a team member able to share feedback and communicate clearly

Physical Requirements:
- Able to stand for long periods at a time
- Able to climb multiple flights of stairs
- Able to lift and move up to 20 lbs
- Able to speak clearly so listeners can understand; able to understand others
- Able to see details of people and objects more than a few feet away
- Able to complete fine motor tasks neatly
- Able to type a minimum of 60 WPM
