An additional part of Duneland's application process will be for every new applicant to complete a candidate assessment. SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Provides an educational program for students in an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishes effective rapport with students to promote positive attitudes of self-worth; motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program, in accordance with each student's ability; establishes good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Credential - Any valid credential issued by the State of Indiana to perform the services of a teacher in a self-contained classroom.
  2. Education - Bachelor's degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.
  3. Preferred- Experience implementing best practices/strategies when teaching EL students
  4. Preferred - Will take on an extra curricular activity. (ECA positions come with a stipend and will be in addition to the base salary)

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  1. Follow the criteria established in the Duneland School Corporation RISE Teacher Evaluation Plan
  2. Provide learning experiences in kindergarten utilizing course of study mandated by the Duneland School Corporation
  3. Instruct students in citizenship, basic communication skills and other general elements of the course of study specified in state law, administrative regulations, or set by the Duneland School Corporation
  4. Plan, organize, and implement differentiated lessons to meet the diverse needs of students
  5. Establish and implement clear objectives for each lesson
  6. Engage students in meaningful activities to assure student mastery of content
  7. Apply Depth of Knowledge strands in instructional strategies
  8. Maintain accurate and complete records of student performance
  9. Enter student grades in student information system weekly
  10. Confer with parents and colleagues to address student academic and behavioral needs
  11. Establish and implement classroom rules and procedures to provide an environment conducive to learning
  12. Administer assessments as required by the state of Indiana and the corporation
  13. Interact with colleagues, parents, and students in a manner that is professional and reflect the expectations of leadership within the school and corporation
  14. Follow all expectations described in the Duneland School Corporation's Teacher Agreement and employee handbook
  15. Follow all procedures and expectations established by the building principal and /or corporation leadership
  16. Monitor and supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day
  17. Share in the sponsorship of grade level activities and participate in faculty committees
  18. May plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants and other paraprofessionals working in that grade level area

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
  1. Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to deal tactfully and effectively with persons at all levels in order to develop and maintain productive relationships with all publics
  2. Ability to learn new skills quickly and assimilate into daily work
  3. Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality both inside and outside the corporation
  4. Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  5. Ability to multi-task with attention to detail
  6. Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes of the normal day and expectations
  7. Proficiency in the use of all technology for instruction and record keeping (i.e. computers, copiers, Skyward)
  8. Proficiency in the use of and the ability to learn required instructional software, (i.e. Microsoft Office, Skyward, Google Docs)
  9. Demonstrate organizational and time management skills
  10. Perform all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisors and district administrators
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (includes equipment, hours, physical demands)

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is protected from outside weather conditions. There are no environmental hazards indicated for this position.
Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of all instructional equipment. A basic knowledge of operations for computers and software, printers, projectors, smart boards, telephone systems, fax machines and copiers is required.
Hours: The regular teacher day is eight (8) hours except on those days that teachers are involved in a meeting or plan session called by an administrator or department leader or teachers having a student/parent conference. 185 days per year.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
