Position Title: STEM Teacher-Academic
Reports To: Principal
Primary Function:
Provides appropriate instruction in a safe and orderly environment conducive to learning for all students assigned.
Requirements:
Educational Level: Bachelor's Degree.
Certification/Licensing: Valid GA Teacher's Certificate 
Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills, student management, supervisory and leadership skills. Ability to employ a variety of instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learners. Ability to deal with multiple tasks, computer competence,        organizational and interpersonal skills.
Personal Skills: Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical skills and stamina to perform essential duties.
GENERAL
1. Demonstrates appropriate verbal and written communication skills.
2. Performs routine duties and tasks with little or no direct supervision.
3. Participates in extracurricular activities and/or serves on designated committees.
4. Demonstrates loyalty to the school, school system and administrators.
5. Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
MEETS STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT GOALS
6. Utilizes state and system-wide test results and local school grade profiles for developing and improving the instructional program for all students assigned to the teacher.
7. Develops and implements appropriate STEM instructional activities using Science and Math GSE to increase student achievement.
PROVIDES APPROPRIATE INSTRUCTION
8. Provides STEM instruction at an appropriate instructional level with content development and building for transfer for students assigned to the teacher.
9. Utilizes researched based STEM pedagogy and instructional strategies and resources appropriate for students assigned to the teacher.
10. Assesses and encourages student progress by promoting engagement, monitoring student progress, responding to adequate and inadequate performances and showing support of students in an appropriate manner.
11. Manages the learning environment by using time efficiently, maintaining an effective physical setting for instruction and maintaining appropriate student behavior in the classroom.
12. Provides adequate information, plans, and materials for substitutes.
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH
13. Participates in STEM focused professional organizations and staff development activities.
14. Shares information with others and applies what is learned to the classroom. 
15. Accepts new challenges in a professional manner.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
16. Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications; works effectively with colleagues and exhibits the fundamentals of good public/customer service.
17. Enhances the climate of the building and the morale of colleagues.
18. Accepts constructive criticism and follows-up on administrative actions for improving performance.

19. Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance. Number of annual absences to date:

INTEGRATION OF TECHNOLOGY
31. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the use of internet and email as applicable to job responsibilities.
32. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the use of other computer applications as applicable to job responsibilities.
33. Incorporates the use of technology into instruction in an appropriate manner.
STEM Teacher Responsibilities
34. Works with businesses to create partnerships with the school; Actively recruits for the STEM program.
35. Participates in professional growth and development and stays abreast of current research through continuing education, educational seminars, workshops, conferences, membership in professional organizations focused on STEM curriculum and/or attendance at            PLU opportunities provided for STEM.
36. Organizes STEM activities for the school, such as STEM days and Parent Nights, flyers, and newsletters, among others.
37. Delivers STEM-oriented instruction (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through Project-Based Learning methods.
38. Plans with each grade level to support, enhance, and implement the science and STEM PBL standards and activities.
39. Conducts research and investigates potential funding and grant opportunities for the school; Participates in the writing and pursuance of such opportunities.
40. Recognizes the special needs of students with learning disabilities, seeks the assistance and cooperation of specialists, as needed and/or required, and makes appropriate individualized physical and instructional accommodations within the classroom.
41. Builds effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication and is available to students and parents for education-related purposes, e.g., open house, conferences, extra-curricular activities.
42. Teaches students to work collaboratively to solve problems and to think logically and creatively using science and engineering practices.
43. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward academic achievement and curriculum goals; Planning and instruction is data-driven, in keeping with the diverse needs of the          student population.
44. Plans and organizes both time and instruction in a way that maximizes student learning.
