Elementary Math Instructor for the 2023-2024 School Year
We are looking for 4-6 Math Instructors with prior tutoring experience available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday within school hours.
Position: 2nd-4th Grade Math Instructor
This is an employment and benefits-eligible position for approximately 20-25 hours per week during daytime hours (8:45 am-2:45 pm) working with 15-20 students during classroom push-in instruction and an average of 3 students in person during small group pullout instruction.
- Priority time blocks for availability: 8:45 am-2:45 pm: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with the occasional Wednesday professional development.
- Locations include West Philly and North Philly. Tutors must travel on-site to this area as well as occasionally to Center City as needed for professional development.
- Start date: December 11, 2023 with flexibility to start as late as January 3, 2024.
Required Qualifications
2nd-4th Grade Math Instructor
- 6 months experience tutoring 1-on-1 or in a small group/classroom setting
- Commitment to tutoring with TEACH for the length of the school year: September - June
- Available to travel locally in the Greater Philadelphia Area for in-person lessons
- Ability to complete federal and PA state background checks and clearances
- A zest for learning and the spark to share and build knowledge with students!
Preferred Qualifications
2nd-4th Grade Math Instructor
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- 1-3 years of experience tutoring or teaching in a 1-on-1, small group, or classroom setting
- Understanding of student-centered learning practices and high-impact tutoring
Tutor Responsibilities
- Prepare engaging lessons and materials to meet student's needs
- Connect with students from diverse backgrounds and educational experiences to maximize their academic potential and to help them achieve their goals
- Communicate with TEACH office staff and parents/guardians to coordinate tutoring lessons and check in about student progress in a punctual manner and with attention to detail
- Participate in professional development opportunities to improve tutoring practice and connect with inspiring educators from around the greater Philadelphia area
- Submit time-sensitive information using our database and other online documentation
Compensation
- $40 per hour plus $25 per hour for up to 4 hours per week of prep.
