Job Description
Trilogy School is a small, non-profit, private school that has served families in Gainesville and its surrounding communities for 30 years. We offer K-12 education, with very small class sizes. Our elementary classrooms are multi-age; K-1st, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-5th each with their own teacher.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Teaching Duties: Your primary role as a Lead Teacher (in K/1st, 2nd/3rd, or 4th/5th) will consist of teaching all general education subjects, as well as special-interest themed classes, for approximately 7 hours each day beginning at 8:00 am. Though all curriculum and materials will be provided, we encourage your creative contributions to our existing framework. We do not use traditional report cards, but you will assess and evaluate several times a year, both in writing, and through parent-teacher conferences. You will carefully monitor students’ academic progress with a goal of achieving Sunshine State Standards by the time our fifth graders head to middle school.
- Planning: Each teacher has one planning period per day, as well as a lunch break.
- Regular Attendance Requirements: Beyond classroom duties, we ask our teachers to attend school meetings, professional development days, graduation, and other required events.
Desired Skills & Experience
While extensive practical experience is of great value, a Bachelor's degree is required and an active teaching certificate is favorable but not required. The ideal candidate will be a kind, flexible, and positive team player who quickly and comfortably adapts to this unique environment while bringing their experience, passion, and unique personality to the classroom.
Additional qualifications and requirements include:
- Must have experience teaching in an elementary classroom
- Excellent communication skills with students, teachers, and parents.
- Comfortable with less traditional curriculums and a Socratic teaching style.
- Confident in creating detailed lesson plans, daily schedules, and yearly goals.
While not required, extra “points” will be given to technologically savvy applicants whose experience include Google Workspace, Pear Deck, Adobe, Canva, or another creative suite, office suite software, Calendly, Typeform, etc.
We offer competitive salaries and a flexible environment, free of the traditional educational bureaucracy that can stifle teacher creativity and personal/professional growth.
