Job Title: Elementary School Counselor - College and Career Focus

Job Overview:

Our elementary school is seeking a qualified counselor to join our team, with a focus on providing guidance and support to students in their college and career goals. The candidate should have experience and be knowledgeable about the current trends and expectations in the college and career landscape, and be able to advise and guide students from kindergarten to grade 5. The successful candidate should also have a strong ability to connect with students, be able to work collaboratively with teachers and parents, and be able to implement programs and activities that support the needs of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling to students who require guidance in academic, personal, social, and career-related areas.
• Develop and implement effective programs and activities that promote career exploration, planning, and readiness for college.
• Work closely with teachers, parents, and administrators to support students' academic progress and emotional well-being.
• Collaborate with external organizations and professionals to bring college and career experts to the school, and arrange field trips to colleges and universities for students.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to remain current with the latest research, trends, and best practices in the field of counseling.
• Collect and maintain accurate records on student progress and counseling sessions.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in counseling, or social work.
• Valid Hawaii State Department of Education School Counselor License.
• Experience working with elementary school students.
• Knowledge of college and career planning strategies and resources.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and administrators.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
