Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

• Effective Communication: Clear and concise communication skills are essential for explaining concepts, giving instructions, and communicating with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Patience and Empathy: Elementary teachers need to be patient and understanding, as they work with students who may have different learning styles, abilities, and backgrounds.
• Classroom Management: The ability to maintain a positive and orderly learning environment is crucial. This includes establishing and enforcing rules, managing student behavior, and keeping students engaged.?
• Adaptability: Flexibility is key in responding to the diverse needs of students and adjusting teaching methods accordingly. Teachers must be able to adapt lesson plans and instructional strategies to meet individual and group needs.
• Organization: Strong organizational skills help teachers manage lesson plans, grading, paperwork, and other administrative tasks effectively.
• Creativity: The ability to develop engaging and innovative teaching methods and activities is essential for keeping students motivated and interested in learning.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Elementary teachers should have a solid understanding of the subjects they teach, including math, language arts, science, and social studies.
• Collaboration: Working collaboratively with other teachers, administrators, and support staff is important for creating a supportive learning environment and addressing the needs of all students.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Teachers often encounter challenges in the classroom and need to be able to think critically and find solutions to various problems that may arise.
• Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with educational technology tools and resources is increasingly important for integrating technology into lessons and facilitating student learning.
• Cultural Competence: Being aware of and sensitive to the cultural backgrounds and diversity of students is crucial for creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Parent Communication: Building positive relationships with parents and caregivers is essential for fostering student success. Effective communication with parents about student progress, behavior, and concerns is important.
• Assessment and Evaluation: Teachers should be skilled in assessing student learning, providing constructive feedback, and evaluating student progress through various assessment methods.
• Passion for Teaching and Learning: A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and a dedication to lifelong learning are essential qualities that inspire students and contribute to a positive school culture.

Salary Details: $42,000+ (depending on experience and advanced degree)
Benefit Details:
Health and Dental insurance - 70% of premiums payable by Employer (80% after 4 yrs).
STRS contribution by Employer 14%.
10 personal days in a year - If unused, compensation is paid at a rate of $200 per day.

Certification/License:

• Ohio State Certification as Teacher.

Education:

• Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
• Masters Degree preferred.

Experience:

• Successful teaching experience in elementary for the appropriate grade level preferred.
