SalaryDescription: Camp U is a four-week Summer learning camp that includes academic acceleration and enrichment. Students learn in a fun, interactive, and project-based structure. Emphasis will be placed on STEAM integration and exploration and discovery of outdoor experiences and interacting with fun places in St.
Louis and University City. Certified teachers and student camp counselors from University City High School and the Science Center YES Program will partner with community organizations for staffing, curriculum development, programming, and field trips. Goals of Camp U:To establish a Summer Learning Camp that meets the social, emotional, and academic needs of our students.
To build literacy skills and provide FUN and enrichment for ALL students.To ensure equitable access, enrollment and outcomes.To create a safe experience for students and staff given the current COVID-19 pandemic. Camp U will be held from 8:40 am-3 pm at Pershing from June 5th-June 30th. Staff Contract Time is 8:15 am-3:15 pm, June 1st-June 2nd half day, no school June 19thCandidates for our Camp U Summer learning experience will be expected to plan for highly engaging, hands-on, fun, and themed instruction with clear daily learning objectives that center on building student literacy and numeracy.
Experience teaching PBL and integrating STEAM in instruction is a plus. Teaching candidates must hold a valid early childhood (B-3) or elementary (1-6) Missouri teaching certificate for the duration of the summer program for all positions. Faculty will report 15 minutes before students arrive and remain 15 minutes after dismissal.
Required staff meetings will be held for 30 minutes from 3-3:30 pm every Monday. Candidates must be able to attend all professional development sessions and planning sessions prior to the start of the summer session. Dates and times TBD.
Paid teacher workdays will also be held on June 2nd and 3rd. Hourly Wage (all levels): 1st year working summer school is $30/hour, second, and subsequent years of service is $32/hour.
