THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a Electronics Mechanic, Position Description Number PDD1204000 / D1205000 and is part of the WY Combined Support Maintenance Shop, Wyoming Army National Guard.

AREAS OF CONSIDERATION:
Primary consideration will be made from Areas 1, 2 and 4. If referrals are not made from the target category, subsequent referrals may next be made from Area 6 (if eligible).
Area 1: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming National Guard (NG) WY ARNG employees assigned to the Combined Support Maintenance Shop.
Area 2: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming National Guard (NG) T32 Dual Status technicians employed within the Wyoming Army National Guard.
Area 4: All current M-day soldiers of the Wyoming Army National Guard.
Area 6: Current military members of the US Army, Army Reserves, or other states' Army National Guard units or prior service members of one of those military branches. Must be willing/eligible to join the Wyoming Army National Guard as a military member prior to appointment to position.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Work involved in fabricating, overhauling, modifying, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining ground, airborne, and marine electronic equipment, such as: radio; radar; sonar; cryptographic; satellite; microwave; micro computers and peripherals; laser; infrared; industrial x-ray; marine, aeronautical, and space navigation aid; TV receiver; surveillance; and similar devices. The work requires knowledge of electronic principles; the ability to recognize improper operation, locate the cause, and determine the best method to correct the defect; and the skill to disassemble, assemble, and adjust electronic equipment. The work includes using both manual and automated test equipment. The work may require the use of a personal computer and numerous software packages to program or realign various components or systems, download information, and detect equipment deficiencies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
WG-10: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the ability to apply a thorough knowledge of operating electronic principles, and the skill and knowledge to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctions. Experience evaluating and performing functional tests on items to determine the extent of repairs required; makes repairs; and replaces defective components and parts. Experience modifying communication and electronic equipment in accordance with prescribed Modification Work Orders and Technical Bulletins. Experience with electronic test equipment such as systems tests sets, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, ohmmeters, voltmeters, resistance bridges, and signal generators.
WG-11: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot, install, repair, and maintain complex electronic systems where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation of individual circuits. Experience that shows comprehensive knowledge of operating electronic principles in the overhaul, maintenance, and repair of a variety of complex electronics systems. The equipment serviced is usually combined and interrelated with other electronic equipment and complementary devices. Experience exercising a high degree of judgment regarding methods and procedures for completing assignments.
NOTE: Minimum Requirements and Specialized Experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. Applicants must provide from (e.g., 02/2015 - 03/2017 or Feb 2017 - Mar 2017) dates and hours worked per week with description of your specialized experience on the resume.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement.
Per 10 USC 10216(b)(1)(C): Those organizations with the primary mission of providing direct support surface and aviation maintenance for the reserve components of the Army and Air Force, to the extent that the military technicians (dual status) in such units would mobilize and deploy in a skill that is compatible with their civilian position skill. (e.g., aircraft mechanics must be compatible)
