Job description

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. This is a position with NAVFAC ENGINEERING COMMAND MID-ATLANTIC.Qualifications: Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This position has a Screen-out Element: The ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Conducting regular inspections of flow meter recordings, integrated flows, pressures, temperatures, levels, and analyzer readings (gas and water) both in the plant and out on distribution system, 2) Adjusting instruments, meters, switches, and transmitters found not functioning properly or improperly calibrated; 3) Testing and calibrating flow meters, gauges, transmitters, recorders, switches, and automatic controls using hand held electronic analyzers, test gauges, thermocouples, dead weight pressure testers, pneumatic load tester, and various equipment; 4) Determining tolerance and accuracy of integrating and recording instruments that control and monitor plant operations; 5) Analyzing the operating conditions by indicating and recording meters and gauges, reflecting load changes, steam temperature and pressure, flow of fuel, steam, air, flue gas conditions, and other controls; 6) Adjusting equipment as necessary for efficient operation including alarm devices, semi-automatic combustion controls, feed-water de-aerators, heaters, fuel heaters, internal chemical injection equipment, automatic stop valves, forced and induced draft fans, fuel and steam pressure control and relief valves, feed-water regulators and pumps; and 7) Tracking plant efficiency, using fuel specifications, steam tables and other guides while maintaining operational logs and compute data for boiler room log sheet.
