ABOUT THE JOB


As an Electrician Superintendent at Tepa, you will work on projects across the United States. We do not require you to live in a specific location for this position, as it is a traveling position, but you will be expected to report to one of our current job sites across the US. Tepa is a federal prevailing wage contractor, so some pay rates will be determined by project and location.

In this position, you will be responsible for installing and repairing complex electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems working from a technical blueprint, as well as supervising electrical work crews.

  • Leads, guides, and/or trains other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques
  • Assist electrical crews in their performance of assigned duties
  • Overall responsibility of project execution in the field and directly supervises multiple teams of electrical crews, helping them complete terminations, installations, and other project requirements.
  • Plans electrical secondary system additions and/or modifications
  • Review and execute plans and specifications
  • Source and or fabricate replacement electrical components
  • Obtain required permits, equipment, tools, and materials for complete project installation.
  • Update project records ad prepare relevant document for clients
  • Liaising with clients, vendors and other electricians
  • Complete layout, sketch dimensional drawings of pads, sleeves, underground runs, electrical rooms, and equipment rooms
  • Ensure all crew members are compliant with training and project PPE requirements
  • Develop and implement a three week look ahead schedule with the project manager, project foreman, and electrician lead
  • Ensure all material for the immediate tasks are onsite and meet all project specifications
  • Ensure equipment is in proper working condition
  • Read technical diagrams and blueprints
  • Perform complex electrical installation, repair and maintenance activities as project requires
  • Inspect transformers and circuit breakers and other electrical components
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices
  • Repair and replace equipment, electrical wiring, and fixtures
  • Comply with National Electrical Code state and local building regulations
  • Install electrical apparatus, fixtures, and equipment
  • Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them
  • Install safety and distribution components (e.g., switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels, etc.)
  • Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components
  • Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits, etc.
  • Troubleshoot damaged systems and units to identify hazards or malfunctions; repair or substitute damaged units
  • Coordinate installation with other trades on project sites
  • Ensure safe installation practices are followed
  • Monitor daily procedures to ensure that proper quality is maintained and that schedules are being followed
  • Create progress reports daily and ensure that any significant information is communicated


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR


  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience working as a journeyman electrician
  • Familiar with Industrial Construction, Refinery Operation, and/or Fuel Operations
  • Completion of an electrician apprenticeship
  • Experience in operating hand tools, and power tools
  • Superb customer service skills
  • Patience with teaching apprentices
  • Must have an advanced working knowledge of various test equipment
  • Must have an advanced knowledge of electrical system, power generation, blueprints and maintenance and repair
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with Superintendents, operators, laborers, and all other personnel on site
  • Must be able to lead crew as a team
  • Must be able to understand, read and write in English
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions
  • Must have an advanced knowledge of the National Electric Code, and applicable Unified Facilities Guide Specifications and Unified Facilities Criteria
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and have a strong attention to detail
  • Must have physical dexterity
  • Must be able to work in elevated areas
  • Have a valid electrician’s license
  • Must be able to pass a background check required to access US military installations
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Have a Master Electrician Certificate (preferred, not required)
  • Have an Electrician degree from a technical college (preferred, not required)
