Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. May install both equipment and facilities-related electrical units.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications, local codes and or manufacturers' specifications.
- Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.
- Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
Education Level: (minimum)
- 2‐year technical degree, certificate, or equivalent education in electronics or manufacturing technology
- 3 ‐ 4 years of technical (component‐level) bench repair experience
- Computer proficiency preferred
- Up-to-date Electrician Certification
Core Competencies:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting production machines in a machine shop environment.
- Strong overall troubleshooting skills.
- Must have excellent industrial electrical, basic plumbing, mechanical skills, and basic machine shop practices.
- Ability to read blueprints, hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Associates in Electronics or equivalent military training and experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot electronic and mechanical equipment in a timely manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively within the team, to customers, and to management.
- Ability to adapt to handle multiple assignments and projects and work to complete them within specified timeframe.
- Capable of electronic repair down to the component, Servo tuning, parameter adjustments, and strong troubleshooting skills on Fanuc/MAZAK controls.
- Machine Tool Controls. Servo & Spindle Drive Systems. CNC Machine Tool Systems. Electronic/ Electrical/PLC systems. Pneumatic/Hydraulic Systems. Mechanical Motion Systems (spindles, linear guides, boxed & rotary).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Climate-controlled, well‐lit, and secure office/shop environment
- Light to moderate physical/lifting of products may be required
- 40‐hour work week with overtime as needed to support on‐time delivery
