Summary:
A well-established energy storage company is looking to hire an Electrical Test Engineer in Herndon, VA. This position is responsible for verification, validation, and testing of energy storage systems and subsystems.
Responsibilities:
* Validate and test Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) by creating test plans, designing setups, specifying equipment, and developing control schemes.
* Support design team on electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and functional block diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent programs.
* Develop cable schedules, perform ampacity calculations, and select cables/terminations for AC and DC applications.
* Review product designs for compliance with industry standards.
* Create and execute test plans for system/component level testing in a lab environment.
* Conduct product certification testing internally or at external facilities.
* Manage lab resources and maintain testing documentation.
* Collaborate in a team, providing optimal solutions for product development.
Requirements:
* BS in Electrical Engineering; graduate degree preferred.
* 3+ years of electrical engineering experience, with a focus on testing electrical systems, especially Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
* Ability to ensure compliance with design standards on electrical circuits up to 1000 Vac and 1500 Vdc
* Knowledge of lab instruments, interconnection requirements, and cabling selection.
* Experience with Siemens and B&R automation PLC is a plus.
* Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical.
* Problem-solving and innovative mindset.
* Strong communication skills and a team player attitude.
* Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
