We are seeking a skilled Electrical Systems/Wiring Harness Engineer to join our dynamic team, contributing to the design and development of cutting-edge machinery in the construction industry.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical Systems/Wiring Harness Engineer to play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing electrical systems and wiring harnesses for our aerial work platforms and telehandler equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and a proven track record in machinery design.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Create and develop electrical system architectures and wiring harness designs for construction vehicles or machinery. This involves planning the layout, selecting appropriate components, and creating schematics.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all electrical systems and wiring harnesses comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and legal requirements, such as those set by organizations like ANSI, OSHA, or relevant local regulations.
  • Component Selection: Choose suitable electrical components, such as connectors, switches, relays, and cables, considering factors like durability, performance, cost, and compatibility with the intended equipment.
  • Testing and Validation: Conduct tests to validate the functionality, durability, and safety of the electrical systems and wiring harnesses. This includes performance testing, stress testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into the construction equipment or vehicles.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to electrical system designs, wiring diagrams, specifications, and testing procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to enhance designs, improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize the performance of electrical systems and wiring harnesses.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any issues or malfunctions related to the electrical systems, wiring, or components, and provide efficient solutions.
  • Supplier Management: Coordinate with suppliers for the procurement of electrical components and harnesses, ensuring quality and adherence to project timelines.
  • Support and Maintenance: Provide support for electrical issues during manufacturing, assembly, and post-sales service, including troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical systems in the field.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree (Masters, Ph.D.) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical systems design and wiring harness development, preferably in the heavy machinery or construction equipment industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design and drafting (e.g., SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar tools).
  • Strong understanding of electrical standards, regulations, and safety practices in the machinery industry.
  • Experience with validation testing methods for electrical systems and wiring harnesses.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) a plus.

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Experience in Electrification, digitalization, and IoT experience.
  • Exhibit leadership, integrity, resilience, flexibility in current and new situations, collaboration with subordinates, peers, and management
  • Functional knowledge of CANBUS systems, SAE J1939 CAN, and ISO 11783
  • Functional knowledge of HMI (Human Machine Interface) displays, joysticks, gauge clusters, implement control systems
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting/diagnosing control systems fault codes
  • General knowledge of construction or off-road vehicle design and operation
