Electrical System Architect

We have an opportunity for a new team member who's a recognized authority in Electrical Engineering and architecting PC system designs. The architect will apply advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex issues and will frequently contribute to the development of new ideas and methods. They'll lead and/or provide expertise to functional project teams and provide direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies.
Responsibilities:
- Develops aggressive and optimized PC client electrical architectures and PCB layouts. Influences strategic suppliers on solutions that enable differentiated products for HP. Programs include clamshell notebook, pull-forward, and x2 devices.
- Identifies and evaluates new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships; creates plans for integration into future HP products.
- Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; integrates suggestions, updates, and innovations into overall architectures and leads platform architecture processes.
- Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership and outsourced development partners.
- Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of design and development innovation and excellence.
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Typically 10+ years experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience architecting electrical solutions for PC clients or consumer electronic devices.
- Experience evaluating, proposing, and selecting forms of empirical analysis, modeling, and testing methodologies to validate component and hardware designs.
- History of innovation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English
- Ability to effectively communicate product design proposals and negotiate options at business unit and executive levels.
