Electrical Installer 3

Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for leading the installing, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects which range in size but are primarily larger and more complex.  Also delivers assigned projects effectively and within budgeted cost and time schedules with minimal guidance.  Supervises other Installers.

 

Job Responsibilities:      

                                                                                                                                                               

1.      Installs, programs, test, repairs, and services a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation with minimal guidance.    

2.      Works closely with customers and internal colleagues in providing technical installation support and training.  Assists and trains less experienced Electrical Installers.  Handles the more complex issues that have been referred by less-experienced colleagues.

3.      Interprets a wide variety of manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing advanced knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools.

4.      Provides a variety of installation assistance as directed by project lead.

5.      Accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction.  Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer’s first choice for service.  Takes ownership of onsite project including safety, quality and performance.  Observes and practices Convergint Quality Standards.

6.      Makes suggestions for installation methods to improve profitability and quality.

7.      The Electrical Installer III position will be responsible for providing basic hand tools as required to perform the daily tasks of the position.

8.      Works closely with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager and assists in the overall coordination of installations; makes recommendations regarding quality of work and potential changes in scope, and identifies ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.

9.      Supervises other Installers.  Supervisory duties include but are not limited to:  mentoring, coaching and developing colleagues.  May provide feedback and assistance with interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning and directing work, performance management, and project budget.  May oversees subcontractor selection process and work.

Job Skills Requirements: 

• Proficient construction skills and understanding of system plans
• Excellent understanding of blueprints, design drawings including wiring and labeling methods, system wiring, wiring methods, and cable support installation (J-Hook, Raceway, Conduit, Cable Support)
• Very familiar with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted.
• Basic technical programming skills
• Excellent customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.)

• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

 

 

Education Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Relevant trade designation (e.g. Electrician) strongly preferred

 

 

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of five years of previous, relevant field experience required

• Previous construction experience including some level of electrical or a low voltage background

• Experience in one or more of the following industries preferred: electronic/electrical, fire alarm & life safety, data-cable installation and/or building automation

 

 

Certifications & Licenses:

• Product-specific certifications helpful; industry-specific certifications desired; must have or be able to obtain applicable state and/or local required industry licenses as required by state law; Must have valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
