POSITION PURPOSE:
The Senior Electrical Engineer will work on multiple electrical and fire alarm projects. The work will be all over the country on federal, manufacturing, and commercial facilities. This position provides a unique opportunity to be fully immersed with multi-discipline engineering teams, construction teams, operations teams, and production/manufacturing teams.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop building electrical as well as fire alarm systems complying with NFPA 72, NFPA 72e, the national electrical code (NFPA 70) and fire life safety designs for new facilities and retrofitting existing facilities
- Support Staff Fire Protection Engineer and develop fire alarm designs for new or existing facilities.
- Perform electrical load calculations.
- Perform lighting systems specifications and design.
- Perform photometric calculations.
- Perform power distribution designs.
- Prepare specifications.
- Perform voltage drop / short circuit calculations.
- Review and comment on shop drawing design packages developed by contractors.
- Coordinate with various disciplines (mechanical, electrical & plumbing) during the design process.
- Support construction team to develop field solutions.
- Perform field observations to document existing conditions for assigned projects and infrastructure improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related undergraduate degree)
- PE Professional Engineer license
- 8 years electrical engineering experience
- 5 years fire alarm system design experience
- 5 years MEP electrical design experience
- Extensive experience with fire detection/alarm as well as fire suppression system and inspection.
- Experience with electrical design software such as SKM power tools is a plus.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit (preferred but not required)
- Experience in Construction Observation
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of electrical and fire alarm engineering design in full compliance with the national electrical code; NFPA 70, NFPA 72, and NFPA 72e.
- Strong working knowledge with NFPA standards and building codes.
- Strong communication skills to explain complex technical challenges and solutions clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work cross-functionally
- Ability to work well under pressure

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
