Job Description
A Service Technician is responsible for providing professional acceptance testing, startup and commissioning assistance on Square D, ABB and S&C power distribution equipment located at customer’s facilities or construction sites. A technician is required to have a basic mechanical aptitude as well as and understanding of electrical systems and components. A Service Technician should have a strong ability to troubleshoot and think critically with a keen attention to detail. The technician not only represents but more supply by insuring that our clients have an excellent experience when implementing power distribution equipment sold into their facility.
Essential Functions:
- Acceptance Testing and Startup of Power Distribution Equipment:
- Demonstrate knowledge of NETA ATS standards and competency using the appropriate test equipment for a given task in order to perform accurate testing.
- Ability to interpret test results to determine when a piece of equipment has an issue.
- Demonstrate an understanding of a single line drawings.
- Demonstrate the ability to independently perform startup on the above listed equipment.
- Demonstrate the ability to connect a laptop to various communications systems using various different adapters in order to verify proper communications and settings on all devices.
- Demonstrate the ability to think critically and efficiently troubleshoot when and issue arises and remain persistent until the issue has been addressed.
Administration and Reports:
- Demonstrate the ability to learn various computer programs and applications for the purpose of generating reports, programming devices, downloading programs and troubleshooting issues.
- A technician must have attention to detail will generating test reports to insure reports are accurate and professional before sending them to the client.
Professionalism:
- Adhere to employee handbook and safety policies.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage job schedules such that you are on the customers site when required by the job site schedule.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to communicate in an effective and professional manner with internal and external clients.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed to meet customer requirements.
- Ability and willingness to review emails/answer calls periodically after normal business hours. Travel is required. Willingness to travel throughout the US.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing technician job duties, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or other components; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear and smell.
- The technician is frequently required to sit, climb or balance.
- Required vision abilities include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must have the ability to regularly lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in an outdoor environment.
- Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Candidate must be capable of driving a fleet service vehicle such as a pickup truck. Candidate must be capable of working alone.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Job related military service (e.g., Naval Nuclear Electricians Mate or Air Force Power Production Technician) Technical School Certification or directly related field experience with Switchgear, Power Distribution Equipment, Electrical Testing, Power Control
Systems, or other low and medium voltage power applications.
COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic drawings
- Ability to read and understand electrical one line diagrams
- Ability to use appropriate test equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose problems I with switchgear and electrical controls.
