Electrical Facilities Manager
The North Jersey District Water Supply Commission oversees the operation of the largest regional water supply in the State of New Jersey, including two major reservoirs, two river-diversion pumping stations, and a 210-million gallon / day (MGD) water filtration plant. At peak capacity, the NJDWSC's facilities can serve the water needs of more than three million residents in Northern New Jersey.
Position Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the design engineering, maintenance and operations of Electrical Facilities including systematic upgrade of the electrical distribution system for the water filtration plant and other related facilities.
· Provide technical expertise and guidance in the resolution/prevention of equipment problems and in determining causes of failures.
· Work with Maintenance and Operations personnel to identify, evaluate and provide solutions to complex technical problems and resolve equipment and system design issues in a timely manner.
· Develop engineering specifications and drawings for small projects and direct consulting engineering for larger more complex capital projects.
· Oversee or perform engineering, quality and safety investigations.
· Direct the activities of contractors to ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, and schedules as appropriate.
· Prepare accurate plant documentation. Review preventative maintenance plans and corrective work orders to assure proper historical records and reporting of plant maintenance is completed.
· Maintain technical library and drawings to ensure that all necessary reference materials are available and up to date.
· Troubleshoot plant issues using technical knowledge, and recommend appropriate/essential resolutions.
· Work with safety department to ensure a safe electrical work environment including proper training and safe work plans for electrical staff.
· Make regular inspections of power equipment and high tension lines.
· Lead and support coordination activities during power outages.
· Provide off-hours emergency support as required.
· This position is designated as Essential Personnel.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
· Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
· Minimum of 7 years practical electrical (commercial/industrial) experience.
· Must have work experience in: Designing, maintaining, and enhancing power distribution and lighting systems.
· Thorough knowledge of NEC and NFPA and their application in industrial facilities.
· Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications; to prepare sketches and schematic drawings; to prepare summaries and reports; and to communicate effectively and follow directions.
· Ability to troubleshoot generators, motors, VFDs, transformers, energy management system lighting controls, ATS, motor control centers, pumps, electric doors, solenoids, switches, starters, relays, etc.
· Knowledge of AutoCAD to update drawings.
· Ability to work with live voltages (up to 5000 volts) in accordance with hot work permits.
· Possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
· Possess strong math skills, in taking measurements and working with electrical formulas.
