Electrical Engineering Intern

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist in research operating environments to develop new strategies which will provide faster pathways to new product development and improved reliability.
• Perform quality assurance and quality control inspections.
• ITS master plan development.
• ITS cost research.
• Power distribution plan development.
• System modeling with Synergi.
• Assisting with strategic initiatives for DERs and Advanced Grid.
• Support of different departments including design, engineering, and construction.
• Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform routine testing, troubleshooting, debugging, prototype building, environmental testing, and simple developmental engineering tasks.
• Use routine development or diagnostic equipment including oscilloscope, VOM, DVM, signal generators, and similar test apparatus.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent command of the English language; second foreign language is appreciated.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a diverse team setting.
• Strong multi-tasking skills.
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Computer design experience in CAD modeling (AutoCAD, Draft Sight, and SolidWorks) preferred, but not required.
• Basic knowledge of engineering principles, methodologies, and procedures.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Educational/Training Requirements:

• Minimum of one (1) year towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent education is required.
• Currently enrolled in a four (4) year Bachelor’s program majoring in Electrical Engineering.
• Pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program with at least two (2) years of post-secondary education.

Physical Requirements:

• Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Periods working on feet, standing, and walking throughout the work area on a regular basis, using tools, and performing repetitive actions.
• Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
• Must be able to lift between thirty-five (35) to fifty (50) pounds at a time.
• Ability to communicate with team members.
• Work environment temperatures vary and may include extreme heat or cold based on outside temperatures.

Schedule:

• Summer hours (8-hour shift)
• Monday through Friday
• Length of service is flexible, but typically will be approximately May to mid-August

Job Type: Internship

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
