Electrical Engineer

Segars Engineering is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer familiar with the design and engineering of power systems in manufacturing and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate would have a B.S. Electrical Engineering from an accredited school, be a licensed P.E., and have 5+ years of related experience designing, engineering and troubleshooting power and electrical systems at industrial and manufacturing facilities. Experience with AutoCAD 2D drafting and 3D modeling is essential. The work is typically performed with a combination of office and field work at client sites. Knowledge of NEC code, electrical standards, industrial and manufacturing facility power systems, and their power requirements; perform necessary calculations, conduct studies, produce design concepts for review and ability to produce, review and stamp construction drawings is essential. Exposure to multi-discipline projects which include mechanical and structural design is beneficial as well.
The ideal candidate would excel at the following duties and responsibilities:
● Applies electrical theory and practical knowledge to design and engineer electrical power installation and modifications at industrial and manufacturing facilities.
● Create and review electrical design drawings and layouts for capital and expense projects.
● Specify electrical power distribution components which may include switchgear, panel boards, transformers, protective / isolation devices, VFDs, MCCs, generators, power supply systems and transformers.
● Conduct studies, collect data, and produce engineering calculations to support design.
● Coordinate electrical design drawings and review as part of multi-discipline project deliverable.
● Ability to walk down electrical design projects and perform necessary field work at heavy industrial and manufacturing facilities.
● Develop and maintain working relationships with engineers and project managers at client sites.
Required Qualifications:
● Ability to design and engineer power distribution to equipment at industrial and manufacturing facilities.
● Competency with NEC code and relevant electrical standards. Ability to read, interpret and produce code and standards compliant electrical designs.
● Review and stamp construction drawings.
● Field experience and aptitude. A desire to excel at identifying problems, create field sketches, generate construction drawings in CAD, and overall develop solutions in light and heavy industrial environments.
● Self-motivated and goal oriented with an ability to work independently as well as within a multi-discipline project team.
● Ability to work safely within heavy industrial and manufacturing facilities.
● Ability to manage priorities and communicate clearly both verbally and in written format.
Additional Qualifications:
● Familiarity with and ability to perform Arc Flash Studies.
● Familiarity with mechanical design, structural design and / or multi-discipline design projects at industrial and manufacturing facilities.
Job Requirements:
● B.S. in Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in power systems at industrial or manufacturing facilities.
● Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Virginia or the ability to obtain through reciprocity within three months of start date.
● Expertise in AutoCAD and 3D modeling.
● Physical ability to climb stairs, ladders and navigate equipment platforms.
● Ability to travel to and work at client sites as needed.
● Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
