The hourly range for this position is $17.00 - $25.00. Pay rate is determined by the most recent academic year completed.
Who You Are
You are a college student who is currently enrolled, or a recent graduate of an accredited college/university majoring in a Computer Science or Electrical Engineering discipline. You are a self-starter who enjoys learning and possess a willingness to advance your technical skills to support software and hardware development, analyze and troubleshoot test configurations, and foster best practices to maintain control system documentation and system software tools. With Gracious Professionalism® our ideal intern will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
FIRST headquarters is in Manchester, New Hampshire, and we seek interns based in the New England area in order to orient the student to the organization and its culture through a hybrid work experience.
What You will Do

  • Work on development and improvement of software and/or electronics related to the FIRST Robotics Competition robot control system and Field Management System
  • Update software and hardware on robot test platforms and document their configuration
  • Enhance tools used for robot network traffic simulation
  • Create and maintain team facing control system documentation
  • Revise and/or generate control system software tools for teams

What We Expect
An individual with an interest and/or involvement in the advancement of STEM education programs who also possesses the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor's or master's degree program, or a recent graduate, majoring in a Computer Science or Electrical Engineering discipline
  • Experience with research, analysis, and subsequent recommendations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 including SharePoint and Teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with the FIRST Robotics Competition Control System, including wiring and programming
  • Experience in Java programming preferred
  • FIRST Alumni status a plus
