The position is for an Electrical Engineer I to join our team in Collins Aerospace Mission Systems to work on projects that contribute to the defense of our nation.  This Engineer will design and develop digital hardware used in high performance communication products, such as sophisticated software-defined radios and data links designed for use in various ground, airborne, and space applications. This is an onsite position based out of our Cedar Rapids, IA site location; may be eligible for relocation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Use and application of Electrical Engineering principles and techniques to design, develop, document, verify, support, and troubleshoot digital hardware for communication products. Designs may include the use of FPGA, processors, and DDR memory components, and industry interfaces, such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.

  • Perform circuit card design lifecycle activities including requirements capture, schematic capture, design documentation, signal integrity analysis, creation of board stackup and routing instructions, coordination and review of printed wiring board layout, creation of test plans, root cause analysis, and integration.

  • Work closely with a multidiscipline team to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a product's lifecycle, including supporting integration and test of the final product.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the information under this program/contract

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a U.S. DOD Secret Clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or coursework with schematic capture of electrical circuit designs. Includes familiarity with a schematic capture tool (examples may include Mentor Graphics xDxDesigner and/or Xpedition, Altium, Cadence Allegro, EAGLE, KiCAD, etc.) for creation of circuit card designs.

  • Experience or coursework with Agile development methodologies, including planning, tracking, and managing hardware development tasks in JIRA is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Test Equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, etc.

  • Familiarity with hardware test solutions and product acceptance testing in an engineering lab and/or production environment.

The salary range for this role is 53,000 USD - 103,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
