NOW HIRING: Electrical Apprentice - LightEdison

Position Location Requirements

This job will require working outside in varying weather conditions. There is work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. There may be times when work is required in a small confined space, including attics and crawl spaces.

This position requires the moving of the entire body for standing, climbing, lifting, walking, balancing, twisting, stooping, reaching, and handling various materials. Excellent hand-eye coordination is a necessity in this position to grasp, manipulate, or assemble items. This position requires the lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds, without assistance.

Salary Range/Level:

  • Level 1 - $16 - $22/ Hr
  • Level 2 - $22 - $28/ Hr


Required Competencies:

  • Must have a high school diploma.
  • Some electrical experience preferred, but open to all Electrical Apprentice candidates.
  • Currently in or willing to enter an Electrical Apprenticeship program.
  • Ability to lift to 70lbs.
  • Fully squat, stoop or kneel while wearing a 25lb tool belt.
  • Maintain a standing position for long periods of time while performing repetitive actions such as grasping or manipulating wires.
  • Work off ladders, lifts or reach booms.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, basic circuits, branch circuits, and specialty systems.
  • Knowledge of magnetic induction, three-phase transformers, conductors and wiring methods.
  • The ability to read and understand electrical single line blueprints.
  • Familiar with aspects of operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of tools and equipment and how to safely use them.
  • Safety-focused mindset and approach to work
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical details accurately and thoroughly.

Responsibilities Include:

Strategic:

  • Connecting LED and Solar equipment such as inventors and panels to power supply and solar grids.
  • Perform voltage testing.
  • Transport equipment and tools to and from job site, if needed.
  • Interpreting blueprint and schematics.
  • Identifying, analyzing, troubleshooting, and assisting with repairs of equipment and electrical faults.
  • Perform electrical wiring and calibration of equipment
  • Make repairs as necessary. Complete maintenance work orders as necessary.
  • Measure materials as well as cutting, stripping, bending electrical wires, tracing shorted circuits, and checking for loose connections.
  • Increase job knowledge by participating in staff training opportunities.
  • Enhance organization reputation by exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.


Tactical:

  • Assist with the installation, repair, maintenance and testing of commercial and industrial electrical systems in full support safety, operations, and productivity initiatives.
  • Use industry related hand tools and power tools, under supervision.
  • Assist the Journeyman Electrician with measuring, cutting, bending, threading, and installing wire and electrical cable systems, conduit systems and other wire raceway systems.
  • Assist the Journeyman Electrician with wires and cables within control centers, distribution boxes, transformers, transducers, switch gear, receptacles, switches, etc.
  • Work with a Journeyman Electrician to splice and terminate wires at junction points.
  • Clean, gather and transport materials to electricians on the construction site.
  • Communicate effectively with Foremen and crew members.
  • Maintain workflow schedule to ensure all productivity objectives are met.
  • Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and courtesy when interacting with colleagues, customers, and vendors.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
