EKG/EEG, TECHNICIAN
SUMMARY
Performs EKG, EEG, Holter Monitors on patients at physician request. Provides leadership working cooperatively with other health care providers.
JOB DUTIES
Reports pertinent observations, changes, and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (physician, manager, supervisor, etc.) Records these observations, changes and reactions accurately, concisely and legibly.
Copies and distributes records as appropriate.
Is knowledgeable of and supports Guest Relation policies and programs.
Initiates the performance of an EKG on an inpatient or outpatient according to department policy and procedure.
Initiates the performance of an EEG on an inpatient or outpatient according to department policy and procedure
Initiates the performance of a Holter Monitor on an outpatient according to department policy and procedure.
Is aware of and adheres to Administrative Policy # A-230 ( General Appearance).
Is aware of and adheres to hospital attendance policy.
Implementation of infection control measures.
Compliance with national and local safety requirements.
Supports TQI concepts through the use of teamwork, participation, and cooperation both on the unit and house wide.
Institutes emergency measures for ABC, fire, and disaster plans. Certified in CPR annually.
Participates in the orientation of new staff and in the clinical experience of students.
Assumes personal responsibility for professional development and continuing education.
Additional responsibilities as designated by Lead Cardiovascular Technologist and/or manager of Cardiovascular Services.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
High School Graduate or equivalent secondary education skills. Successful completion of an educational program for EKG-EEG technician accredited by the AMA Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation, or equivalent training. Must be certified in CPR.
One year experience involving patient contact and decision-making.
