Job Summary:
Operates electrocardiograph (ECG or EKG) equipment to record electric variations and impulses of the heart for use in the diagnosis of heart disorders. Places Holter monitors (24-hour ECG recordings) and assists with exercise (stress) testing.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Experience in the use of ECG and/or Holter and stress test equipment

Qualifications
Essential Job Duties:
- Completes patient log and performs charge entry before end of shift. F: daily/T: 20-30 minutes
- Ensure adequate inventory of EKG, Holter and stress equipment. F: daily/T: as needed
- Explains examination procedure and reassures patient and family to ensure comfort, understanding and cooperation F: daily/T: 2-6 hours
- Maintains equipment in good working condition and reports malfunctions to supervisor in a timely manner. F: weekly/T: 5-20 minutes
- Performs EKG, Holter monitoring and exercise (stress) tests accurately and following department policies and procedures. F: daily/T: ongoing
- Performs inventory, stocks, cleans and assists with special projects that result in department quality improvements. F: daily/T: 45-60 minutes
- Presents service data and test results for continuous quality improvement initiatives on a monthly basis. F: monthly/T: ongoing
- Complies with all hospital safety regulations and infection control policies. F: daily/T: ongoing
- Maintains and enhances professional standards by participating in in-service programs, seminars, professional meetings, and staff meetings. F: monthly/T: 2 hours
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- High school education or equivalent preferred
- Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills
- Ability to perform competently and efficiently in crisis situations
- Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and co-workers
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Complies with hospital safety regulations and infection control policies
- High level of clinical and technical knowledge in invasive pediatric cardiology
