The Ayer Neuroscience Institute is expanding our EEG services as we develop into the highest level Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. We are expanding our outpatient and inpatient services for people with seizures, including a program for surgical treatment of epilepsy. Our reputation for providing complex and innovative care to those in need is built on the foundation of excellence in patient care, teaching and research. The team is committed to creating an innovative patient centered delivery system that continuously improves quality care. The EEG Tech providers are part of a multidisciplinary team that delivers care for this complex population.
We seek enthusiastic, motivated people to join the energetic learning and working environment in our EEG lab, where our focus is providing the most sophisticated care available, with a personal touch.
Our team has experience training and educating technologists with no prior experience. We combine on-the-job-training with online curriculum and person-to-person review sessions to ensure people learn all the necessary skills to have confidence they are providing outstanding care. Our goal is that all our technologist become registered by ABRET, the national board for EEG technologists, and develops their job into a career!
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of EEG Technologist or manager, performs routine electroencephalograms (EEGs) used to monitor and record brain activity, and may assist in other neurodiagnostic exams requested by a physician, to assist care providers in evaluating and treating epilepsy and seizure disorders. Prior to an EEG exam, technicians review the patient's medical history; meet with patient/caregivers to explain the procedure and answer questions. Prepare the patient for the exam by attaching electrodes to the patient's head, and calibrating the equipment. During the exam, they operate equipment, modify or adjust recording strategy and document patient behaviors and clinical events. After the exam, remove electrodes, clean and disinfect the instrument for future use. They also contribute to the processing of the data collected. All activities associated with exams are completed in accordance with department protocols and The Neurodiagnostic Society (ASET) national standards.
EEG Technologists participate in a process of continuous learning to pursue eligibility for and achievement of ABRET Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R. EEG T.) certification. Upon achieving competency in procedures and exams, as determined by manager, EEG Technicians may perform some duties independently.
• Routine EEGs
• Continuous inpatient EEGs
• Ambulatory outpatient EEGs
• Flexible site staffing coverage
Qualifications:
• High School or GED or graduate of a program required
• EEG experience preferred but not required
• Must obtain the CPR and BLS within the first 6 months of employment
• Registered EEG technologists encouraged to apply
• Will require multiple site coverage when needed
