Job Description
Job Title:Educational Assistant
Reports to: Assigned teacher; principal; superintendent
Number of Days: Temporary position till the end of the school year, 7.5/hr day.
Salary: To commensurate with the classified staff salary schedule, level 1 or 2.
Status: Non-Exempt
Job Goal: To assist and extend managerial and instructional activities in the classroom and school environment. Position Summary: Contribute to the successful achievement of the Falls City School District mission and priorities by supporting the effective organization and operations of the school environment to optimize student learning, instructional programs and related activities.
Qualifications: Be able to pass a background check, Must have completed two years of higher education study (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) OR must have obtained an Associate's or higher degree or must possess at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent and have passed a formal state assessment that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics, or instructing reading, writing, and mathematics readiness. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Essential Job Functions: Knowledge of child development; the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics; good interpersonal skills, clerical skills which include typing, duplicating, filing, keyboarding, and operating testing and instructional equipment; Knowledge of office and media equipment. Requires regular climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. The physical requirement of this position is medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures: transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; Is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside. May be exposed to infectious diseases; required to work in close proximity to children and others, which may involve physical contact by students on occasions. Provides and assists in supervision of students that include the classroom, halls, playground, buses, and lunchroom. Performs duties as assigned by the teacher or principal.
Working Conditions: Exposure from mild to moderate stress and physical workplace conditions may range from rare to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: According to Board policy and procedures, master contract, and school calendar.
EVALUATION: performance will be evaluated annually, in accordance with Board Policy and established procedures.
