POSITION SUMMARY
Provide assessment, education and vocational counseling to assist participants in completing their educational goals related to High School Diploma or GED and developing employment skills and job placement. Determine educational needs of participants and serve as a liaison with school district and other educational supports to ensure education needs are met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS STATEMENT(S)
Education Services
- Provide educational assessment/exploration to determine need as appropriate.
- Monitor and evaluate participants progress toward completion of educational goals including contact with teachers/participants and McKinney Vento liaison.
- Provide appropriate referral for educational supports including McKinney Vento supports within the Sioux Falls School District.
- Attend regular meetings regarding participant's progress including quarterly reviews of transition plan and attendance at IEP meetings and/or parent teacher conferences as required.
- Assist in development and scheduling of like skills and tutoring activities utilizing evidence based curriculum.
- Provide weekly academic support onsite scheduling homework assistance, tutoring, test preparation and educational guidance.
Employment Services
- Provide vocational assessment, career exploration and pre-employment training as appropriate.
- Provide group and individual employment skills training based on assessment of participant need.
- Coordinate with case manager and participant to include employment goals into Transition Plan.
- Evaluate participant's progress and performance, documenting contact with work sites, training institutions and employers.
- Make contact with potential employers to explain program in detail and arrange for participant job opportunities.
- Work closely with Department of Labor and Regulations (WIA) to provide job referral; on-the-job training and work experience opportunity for participants.
- Provide transportation as necessary for job search, placement and coordination of services as needed.
POSITIONS QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor degree in social work or related human services field
Experience: Minimum of two years related work experience with adolescents, knowledge of community resources and ability to establish therapeutic relationships with youth preferred.
Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills
Certifications & Licenses: Valid Drivers License
