Job Description:
EDP Systems Analyst I (SAI)
BARGAINING UNIT: AFSCME
ANTICIPATED START DATE: As soon as possible
SALARY RANGE: AFSCME Grade 19, Step 1: $2242.56 bi-weekly ($58,306.56 annually)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Working within the Information Technology (IT) team and reporting to the Director of Networks and Systems, the SAI is responsible for delivering Tier I desktop support. In addition, the SAI will work in cooperation with other IT support personnel to establish desktop management platforms; support information security measures and strategies, and to monitor and triage help desk tickets. The SAI will maintain classroom and faculty and staff computers, printers, scanners and other computer and electronic devices as needed.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students via phone, email, and remote support tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues with desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
- Order, install, and configure new equipment and software.
- Maintain accurate records of support tickets and resolutions.
- Participate in ongoing projects and initiatives to improve IT services.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide basic training on software applications.
- Maintain physical security of IT equipment.
- Document procedures and processes.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and best practices.
Requirements:
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE*:
- At least two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in electronic data processing, of which at least one year must have been in work in which the major duties included computer systems analysis, or any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below:
- An Associate's degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience. **
- A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer and/or information science may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience. **
- A diploma for completion of a two year full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized non-degree granting business or vocational/technical school above the high school level with a major in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience. **
- An official transcript from a recognized business or vocational/technical school as evidence of completion of a program consisting of at least 650 hours of instruction in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.
- Graduation from the data processing course of a recognized vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.
- Detail oriented organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
**Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least (2) years technology support experience or Associate's Degree in a related field and at least (3) years technology support experience.
- At least 2 years supporting PC and Mac desktops and laptops in a networked environment.
- Experience working with hardware purchasing, IT contracts and/or budgets.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP and Active Directory.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Standard hours are 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. 37.5 hours a week. This is position will require some night and weekend hours for system maintenance.
