Job description

The Predictive Analytics group transforms our data into state-of-the-art analytics to help clients make better decisions in the face of uncertainty. Our clients come from a wide range of industries such as banking, insurance, commercial real estate and many more. They use our economic research to evaluate credit-worthiness, to monitor risks and opportunities when weighing up major investment decisions as part of their corporate strategy. Our team is made up of intellectually curious economists, data scientists, and IT professionals who combine technical skills with a strong desire to understand clients’ needs.

Responsibilities
Provide written analysis of U.S. state and metro area economies while closely editing the work of other economists. Analyze data, contribute to forecasts, and work with senior staff on research and consulting projects.
  • Assume responsibility for forecasting and analyzing sub-national economies, acting as an expert for one or more higher-profile states and their metro areas.
  • Edit reports for subscription products, with an eye toward developing less experienced economists and ensuring sound economic reasoning.
  • Participate in the training of junior staff and contribute to regular internal meetings.
  • Coordinate with a separate team of editors to maintain standards and assist with occasional bottlenecks.
  • Provide support to senior staff on data analysis and charts, contributing original content and reviewing that of others.
  • Work with internal and external clients to address issues and possibly provide product demonstrations.
  • Participate in radio and print media interviews, as necessary, pertaining to geographical areas of expertise.
  • May be responsible for development and improvement of proprietary data and economic indicators.
  • May also contribute writing and editing for country reports and narratives.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Economics or related field and three plus years experience -OR- a Bachelor’s degree and five plus years of experience.
  • Experience in macroeconomic analysis, writing, and editing. Background that involves some training of others or understanding U.S. regional economies is a plus.
  • Must be a motivated, responsible person who can work well with others independently of daily supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work directly with staff and clients are a must.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $78,500 to $113,750, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
