This is a full-time, exempt, Management 2 (M2) position. There is one vacancy.

Responsibilities
  • Collaboratively develop and implement programs and projects to meet objectives related to community and Economic Development. Areas of practice will include a combination of business recruitment, retention, and expansion; placemaking and urban development; innovation and entrepreneurship; branding and marketing; workforce development; and ecosystem leadership.
  • Program areas for the coming fiscal year could include a combination of the following: administration of state and federal grants related to brownfields and entrepreneurship; business retention and expansion of local sector businesses; administration of internal incentive programs for traded sector businesses; staff liaison with assigned community partners; communications and public relations for the promotion of the city and its Economic Development efforts; economic and demographic research.
  • Manage economic and business development programs or projects that require understanding, managing, and influencing complex organizational and regulatory systems. Recommend improvements to existing programs.
  • Manage relationships, agreements, and budgets with partners in the public, private, and non-profit sectors and be willing to serve in a liaison role within partner organizations. This will likely include a variety of statewide and regional industry groups as well locally based organizations with a focus on small business and main street development.
  • Create a workplace that promotes the organizational values of workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion. These values should also be thoughtfully integrated in all project and program work.
  • Manage program and project budgets, internal strategies, and implementation plans.
  • May manage staff, under the direction of the Division Manager.
  • Work with staff, elected officials, and other stakeholders to facilitate implementation of City economic and community development goals.
  • Represent the City at meetings, events, task forces and committees related to community development. Develop and deliver presentations.
  • Identify, design, and manage community engagement activities, including advisory boards, task forces, and other community outreach.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and
  • Five years' experience in program or project management; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.

Compensation
Salary range: $6,731.15 - $9,021.29 monthly
Starting rate will be determined depending on relevant work experience as outlined in the Equal Pay Act. New hires who meet minimum requirements will start at step one. Higher steps may be offered to those who have additional years of directly related experience to the position within the posted wage range.
