JOB TITLE: Echo Vascular Sonographer
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for performing all Cardiac Echo and Vascular studies as outlined below.
LOCATION: Gainesville, FL
POSITION STATUS: Part-time
- Responsible for proficiently performing Echocardiograms, Carotid Duplex, Segmental Pressure Exams, Exercise Treadmill Stress Tests, Stress (and Chemical) Echocardiograms, Abdominal Aorta Duplex, Arterial Duplex, Renal Duplex and Venous Duplex
- Studies following the established ICAEL and ICAVL standard protocols created by TCAVI.
- Accurately inputs all pertinent information and measurements in the Intergy EHR system to create complete and accurate procedure reports.
- Accurately charges for all exams performed in the Intergy EHR system.
- Appropriately interacts in person and via telephone with patients or their representative regarding test instructions, questions and results.
- Will assist in the training of students and newly hired techs.
- Continually cleans and stocks exam rooms with supplies and linens.
- Maintains equipment by properly cleaning and brings to the attention of the Manager any discrepancies.
- Assists with ICAEL I ICAVL accreditation applications as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Completed a 2 year Associates degree or Certificate program specific to Cardiovascular Sonography.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years of experience performing Cardiac and Vascular Ultrasound exams.
REQUIREMENTS: ACLS certified. The sonographer must be registered in both Cardiac Echo and Vascular through CCI or ARDMS. Within 90 days of employment date, must successfully complete required job competencies.
ABILITIES:
- Demonstrates proper and safe use of equipment used to perform all Cardiac Echo and Vascular studies.
- Demonstrates the skills needed to recognize arrhythmias and ischemic "Changes" on an EKG while performing stress tests.
- Ability to correlate the patients ' clinical history and present symptoms to perform quality diagnostic studies.
- Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with interdepartmental personnel.
- Able to work with minimal supervision, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Prioritizes work responsibilities and completes assignments in a timely fashion.
- Willingly accepts additional responsibilities as needed.
- Assumes responsibility for increasing knowledge and skills towards all.
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Medical/Clinical Office. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases and toxic substances and other conditions common to a clinic and Echo Vascular laboratory. All studies are performed in an exam/procedure room setting.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Performing studies frequently requires a full range of body motion. The tech must be capable of visual acuity in order to work on a computer for long periods of time. Must be able to stand and sit down repeatedly, maintain arm and shoulder position for several minutes, and assist patients up/down from the exam table.
