Job Description
Starling Physicians, a Summit Health company, is hiring! We have several full-time, part-time and per-diem opportunities available throughout multiple departments & practices in Connecticut. Apply today to learn more about our current openings!
Position Summary
Performs diagnostic medical sonograms in accordance with protocols to assist the physician with diagnosis and treatment.
Key Accountabilities
  • Performs diagnostic procedures by selecting appropriate transducers and correct scanning sequences to produce an accurate image.
  • Assess physician's order for completeness by reviewing the requisition and patient care chart to ensure correct exam is performed the first time.
  • Completes preliminary reports before a cardiologist reviews the images.
  • Must be able to perform exercise stress echos, bubble studies, Definity, and strain quantification.
  • Works effectively as a team member within the department and with other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation, and collaboration.
  • Accurately inputs data in the RIS by tracking actual procedure performed in order to capture all charges and other relevant information for patient billing and to determine department resource allocation, billing, and inventory.
  • Follows policies and procedures to ensure patient care.
  • Attends required staff meetings.
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality. Follows all rules regarding "breaking glass" in electronic health record (EPIC).
  • Adheres to HIPAA, OSHA and EPIC regulations.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Relationships (Reports to, Supervises)
  • Reports to Practice Manager or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, physicians, and the public.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Additional Skills & Requirements)
  • ARDMS or CCI certified
  • Graduate of an accredited Echocardiogram Program.
  • Related work experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of third part billing preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally under pressure.
  • Ability to set priorities, be organized and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to work in a team and to share responsibilities and duties.
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict in a straightforward and timely manner.
  • Ability to be friendly, empathic and an adept communicator.
  • Ability to treat both staff and patients with respect.
Working Conditions, Physical Requirements
  • Support function will occur within Cardiology practice clinical settings and work spaces.
  • Incumbent may be required to work at any facility based on operation need, and schedule may vary.
  • Travel to various practice locations will require ability to drive, valid driver's license and use of own reliable transportation.
  • Physical activity will include walking, standing, and sitting.
  • Physical demands may also include lifting and carrying equipment up to 30 lbs. or providing physical assistance to patients
  • Other physical requirements include speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes; vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc.; and good manual dexterity.
