Position Overview:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is accepting applications for Semester Lecturer appointment(s) (temporary position; less than 30hrs a week) to teach undergraduate and/or graduate course(s) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering for Fall/Spring/Summer semester. Hours will vary, pending course(s) available. Duties include but are not limited to: holding office hours; grading assignments and submitting grades; may participate in curriculum development and course coordination.

The Semester Lecturer will be teaching the following course(s):

  • ECE 2060, Introduction to Digital Logic

All courses are taught in person on the University’s main campus in Columbus, Ohio.

  • Collaboration with fellow instructors

Education and Experience Requirements

Required

  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to or demonstrated efforts in teaching that reflect Ohio State’s Shared Values
  • Experience with DE2 Development Board and Quartus Prime

Desired

  • Experience and/or knowledge of teaching ECE 2060, Introduction to Digital Logic
  • Experience teaching in a learning setting including, but not limited to, K-12 classroom experience or higher education teaching as an instructor of record or graduate teaching assistant

Consistently ranked among the best in the nation, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) provides superior training for students and groundbreaking research at the frontier of high technology in all areas of electrical and computer engineering. ECE faculty, researchers and students engineer solutions to problems in diverse fields, from bio- to nanotechnology, from energy to mobility, from health sciences to communication, and beyond. The faculty body of the department consists in fifty tenure -track faculty, six research-track faculty and five clinical faculty, and sports thirty IEEE Fellows and one National Academy of Engineering member. The department’s faculty and researchers are active in the areas of analog and RF electronic circuits, communication and signal processing, computer and digital systems, computer vision and image processing, control systems, machine learning, electromagnetics, remote sensing, microwaves, optics and photonics, nanotechnology and electronic materials, robotics, intelligent transportation, networking, sustainable energy, and power systems. In fiscal year 2020, this research was supported by $20.9 million in externally sponsored funding. Along with other state -of-the-art facilities on campus, the ECE department is home to thirty-plus research centers and laboratories, including: ElectroScience Laboratory, Artificial Intelligence Institute for Future Edge Networks and Distributed Intelligence, High Voltage and Power Electronics Laboratory, Center for High Performance Power Electronics, Center for Enabling Cyber Defense in Analog and Mixed Signal Domain, Circuits Laboratory for Advanced Sensors and Systems, Crash Imminent Safety University Transportation Center, Information Processing Systems Laboratory, Solid State Electronics and Photonics Laboratory, and the Micro - Electronics Security Training Center.
