Description:
Maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the deck, and surrounding areas.?? Positively communicate information on pool rules and Y programs.
- Education and Experience:
- Must be 15 years of age or older
- Current Lifeguarding and CPR/AED for the PR certifications required.
- Must have the ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness and possess mature judgment and sound decision making.
- Ability to relate to people in a positive, but firm manner must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate information on aquatics and other Y programs to members and participants
- Responds to emergency situations in accordance with Y policies and procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as required.
- Maintains effective relationships with the members, participants and other staff. Develops rapport with members.
- Conveys basic information on Y programs and schedules to members, and as appropriate, refers members to other programs and/or staff.
- Attends staff meetings and training courses as scheduled.
- Takes pool attendance and maintains related records as required.
- Performs routine maintenance of the pool and surrounding areas, to ensure cleanliness.
- Checks pool and rescue equipment and promptly reports any problems.
- Sets up and stores equipment for recreational swims and assists instructors with class set up.
