Who We Are:
The New Orleans JCC is a state-of-the-art fitness center and pool, a leader in New Orleans Early Childhood education, a fun-filled summer day camp and so much more. It is a place for adults to take an exercise class, an art class or dance class. A place for children and teens to experience learning through enrichment classes, sports leagues, family activities, and summer camps. The JCC is built on Jewish values, but is welcome to everyone.
The mission of the Greater New Orleans Jewish Community Center is to promote and ensure the well-being of our Jewish community and to instill an understanding of Judaism and its heritage by providing a Center where all can enjoy, learn, experience and share in quality activities in a Jewish environment.
A Substitute Teacher primary responsibility is to provide support to Early Childhood classroom teachers and teaching assistants. The purpose of the role is to support the daily operations of running the classroom in the absence of a regular classroom teacher.
What You'll Do:
- Monitor children's indoor and outdoor activities and responding to children's needs in a positive and courteous manner in a variety of classrooms
- Manage a group of children between the ages of 13 months and 5 years old, participate in small group activities, under the supervision of lead and assistant teachers.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment throughout the classroom while following all school procedures and regulations.
- Must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults. It is essential that he/she has the personality and ability to provide warmth, leadership, and stability for program continuity.

What You'll Bring:
- Mandatory Reporter Training & Louisiana Dept. of EducationTraining Modules Preferred
- CPR/First Aid certifications required upon start.
- Must be able to pass a Louisiana Dept. of Ed Child Care Civil Background
- Experience working with children in a classroom/camp setting preferred.
- Exemplary childcare and classroom management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, co-workers, parents, and children.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

Monday-Friday - Between the hours of 7:30am -5:30pm (As needed)
