Job Goal(s):The primary job goal of the Nurse is to work to maintain the good health, safety and well-being of students served by the Van Buren ISD and/or the local school district. To this end, the person provides direct service to students and actively participates in the communication of student medical needs with school personnel. Location of Work:Special Services Building / Offsite701 South Paw Paw StreetLawrence, MI 49064 Minimum Qualifications: Education:Post-graduate degree from an accredited program Certification:Valid Michigan Registered Nurse License preferred.
Work Experience:Previous work experience with young children and those with disabilities is preferred. Skills:Ability to possess and demonstrate competency in the required School Nurse job skills.Ability to work with and build familiarity with various medical conditions and understand how they intersect with the educational needs of the child. Ability to communicate well with school teams, parents, students, outside agencies and physician offices.
Essential Job Functions:Participate in educational planning.Provide effective health services to students.Demonstrate effective leadership in establishing and implementing school health programs.Assist Early On staff and classroom teams in planning for student transitions into preschool. Effectively communicate, consult and team with parents, staff, agencies and others.Effectively train VBISD staff to provide required health care procedures to student(s) and maintain documentation of all training.Maintain a current RN license through necessary professiaonl development. Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Van Buren ISDComplete assigned responsibilities within agreed upon or established timelines.Perform additional tasks, responsibilities and duties as assigned by Supervisor or Director of Early Childhood.Terms of Employment: As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
