POSITION OBJECTIVE: Coordinates all security department actions while keeping a detailed record
of events. While acting as a Security Officer I, provide excellent service to casino guests while
ensuring the safety of casino assets and Team Members.

JOB SUMMARY: Acts in the capacity as a dispatcher of Security Officers or telephone switchboard
operator. Prioritizes all calls received, and then dispatches Security Officers to provide assistance
for all calls for service at the Nisqually Red Wind Casino. While acting as a Security Officer 1,
Observe and report all activities, incidents or safety hazards to ensure protection of company
assets and safety of guests and Team Members. Respond to emergency situations as they arise.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
As a Dispatcher:
  • Ability to control personal emotional responses under high levels of stress.
  • Accomplish specific assignments, understand and comply with detailed verbal and written instructions.
  • Dispatchers must maintain a log of all persons who, for any reason, are banned or self- excluded from the property. Coordinate with the Nisqually Tribal Gaming Agency to respond to and promptly address any person trespassing on property.
  • During emergencies, Dispatchers must also be able to take accurate notes through a manual call log sheet when computerized systems are not functioning.
  • Knowledge of departmental Guest Service Standards, and deliver excellent guest service in person, on the phone, through correspondence.
  • Maintains an accurate computerized log through the security department's CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) system of all department activity.
  • Maintains working knowledge of casino rules, policies, activities and/or promotions in order to assist with guest inquiries.
  • Monitor panic, access control, and emergency phone systems for alarms and malfunctions, investigate and escalate unusual incidents.
  • Monitor surveillance systems frequently to detect and report any unusual events to a Security Supervisor.
  • Monitor the electronic key tracking system for alarms involving all company owned keys, investigate and confirm the location/accountability of keys and notify Nisqually Tribal Gaming and casino leadership immediately.
  • Must remain calm and communicate effectively with confused, upset, hostile, or distraught people by phone, while gathering the information necessary to send the correct responders and equipment to the scene. Dispatchers may hear and need to respond to graphic descriptions of violence and/or injury.
  • Observe and report incidents, procedure violations, or criminal activities as they occur, and complete detailed incident reports.
  • Operates various communication equipment to dispatch security personnel to calls for service, critical incidents and emergencies. Identifies locations where assistance is needed, makes rapid determinations as to availability and proximity of the nearest personnel and equipment, and coordinates interagency and interdepartmental notifications of incidents.
  • Participate and qualify in various training programs such as First Aid/CPR/AED, training on how to resolve and handle conflict, etc.
  • Provide information about the casino, such as location and/or services available. Direct complaints or concerns to the proper department for resolution. Greet and assist Team Members and guests at the Casino.
  • Receives requests and carefully documents security activity prescribed by regulatory controls, policies, and procedures. To include table fills/credits, escorts of funds or team members, cards and dice delivery, issuance, and destruction, and drop related tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

As a Security Officer I:
  • Ability to operate assigned vehicles.
  • Demonstrate excellent guest service skills, cooperate with other team members and provide guest information, assistance and service.
  • Ensures that only authorized personnel enter secure areas.
  • Identify and report suspicious activity to include but not limited to threats of theft, violence, intoxication and/or drug related activity.
  • Identify, assess, and assist sick or injured guests and Team Members prioritizing per triage guidelines, and provide basic first aid care.
  • Knowledge of the location operation of emergency equipment that includes first aid kits,
  • AED's, fire extinguishers, wheelchairs, etc. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of all emergency equipment.
  • Participate in Slot Machine and Table Games drop.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and complete written reports as required.
  • Provide medical aid assistance and detect correct safety and/or security problems that could endanger guests and/or team members.
  • Provide security for organizational assets in accordance with established policies and procedures. Perform repetitive duties, respond to incidents and correct unsafe or unsecured situations.
  • Participate and qualify in various training programs such as First Aid/CPR/AED, training on how to resolve and handle conflict, handcuffing tactics, etc.
  • Responsible for parking lot security and routine patrolling of casino property by foot, bicycle, or vehicle.
  • May serve as the Casino Phone Operator as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required skills and knowledge:
  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • 1 year of security experience in the gaming industry.
  • 6 months of dispatch experience in an alarm monitoring, high volume call center, security, law enforcement, corrections, or EMS/Fire environment; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 1 year of experience as a Security Officer I at NRWC within the last five years waives the dispatch experience requirement.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract that must not contain any disqualifying events per the NRWC Safe Driver Policy.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Ability to obtain conflict resolution certification.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic report writing skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Pass NRWC pre-employment testing.
  • Ability to work all shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to obtain a Class III Gaming License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, squat and lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand or move continually for assigned shift.
  • Manual and finger dexterity for operation of personal computer and routine paperwork.
  • Ability to frequently to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle, feel, or grip objects; stretch and/or reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch or work in cramped or awkward positions; repetitive motions. Must be able to continuously climb and descend stairs safely.
  • Ability to tolerate a noisy, smoke-filled environment; or to be outside for long periods of time and may be exposed to the outside weather.

Preferred skills and knowledge:
  • Bi-lingual.
  • Basic knowledge of Cisco phone systems.
  • Basic knowledge of computer aided dispatch systems.
  • Knowledge of Tribal-State compact for Class III Gaming and Appendixes.
