Position Title: Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Per Diem

Job Summary:
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) on a Per Diem basis, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Your role is crucial in ensuring the well-being, safety, and inclusion of the individuals you serve. The DSP will work on an as-needed basis, providing flexibility for both the employee and the organization.
Responsibilities:
Individualized Support:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with IDD in accordance with their personalized care plans.
- Assist with daily living activities, including but not limited to personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and transportation.
Promote Independence:
- Encourage and support individuals in developing and maintaining their independence and autonomy.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that enhances the individual's quality of life.
Communication:
- Maintain clear and open communication with individuals, their families, and other team members.
- Document daily activities, progress, and any incidents in accordance with organizational policies.
Safety and Well-being:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals by following established protocols and procedures.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and report incidents promptly.
Community Integration:
- Support individuals in participating in community activities, social events, and recreational opportunities.
- Foster positive relationships within the community to enhance the individual's social connections.
Training and Development:
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and stay current on best practices in the field of developmental disabilities.
- Attend team meetings and contribute insights to enhance the overall quality of care.
Adherence to Policies and Regulations:
- Comply with organizational policies, as well as local, state, and federal regulations governing the provision of services to individuals with disabilities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education or certification).
- Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Basic computer skills for documentation purposes.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if applicable).
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and transfer individuals as needed.
- Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods.
- Must pass a background check and meet health requirements.
