Baker Boyer is the oldest independently owned community bank in the Pacific Northwest. It serves the Walla Walla, Kennewick and Yakima communities with seven branches, providing wealth management as well as personal and business banking services.

    • Family Associate- $42,183-$59,300 a year

  • 401(k) - 100% safe harbor match up to 6%, plus an additional 6% profit sharing contribution, resulting in employer contributions of up to 12% of annual salary.
  • Paid Leave - 20 days per year (increasing each year until max accrual is reached), consisting of the following leave types:
    • 10 days of Vacation time – The annual Vacation accrual increases by a day each year for the first 10 years, and an additional half day each year for the next 10 years, reaching the maximum Vacation accrual of 25 days at year 20.
    • 7 days of Sick, Safe & More (SSMORE) leave – SSMORE accrues at a rate of 1.2 hours for every 40 hours worked. SSMORE is intended to meet sick and safe leave needs, but it can also be used for vacation or other personal leave.
    • 3 Revive & Renew (R&R)days – We understand the importance of unwinding and recharging, so these R&R days are loaded on the first of each year (prorated for new hires based on the quarter in which they are hired).
  • 11 Paid Federal Holidays annually*

* Number of paid holidays may be fewer than 11 on years when there are Federal Holidays that are observed on Saturdays.

About DS Baker Advisors:

This position is part of DS Baker Advisors, a team of wealth management specialists at Baker Boyer whose goal is to provide comprehensive financial services for all business and high net worth clients traversing their wealth journey. DS Baker Advisors takes a client-centered approach in meeting their diverse, individualized, and often transforming needs.  Should a multi-faceted financial relationship develop, our Family Advisors works together with DS Baker Advisor experts to meet the personal, business, investment, planning and legacy goals of the client. 

About the Family Associate Role:

The Family Associate provides administrative and operational support to Family Advisors, working directly with clients, providing the best possible experience while problem-solving and executing requests in a timely and efficient manner. The Family Associate assists by providing Advisor support, client relationship management, bank account administration and operational functions. The Family Associate exercises discretion and independent judgment and prioritizes their work load accordingly.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Family Advisors Support

Works with Family Advisors and other DS Baker Advisors team members to support day-to-day and strategic business needs. This includes:

  • Document all client interaction and data using client relationship management software.
  • Assume responsibility for carrying out tasks for the Family Advisors as requested, completing the entire task or project independently when requested.
  • Manage and arrange the schedule of assigned Advisors.  This includes managing calendars and/or e-mail and arranging appointments and meetings with clients as well as internal and external attendees (CPA’s, attorneys, etc.).  
  • Prepare reports and financial plan requests in advance of Family Advisor client meetings. 
  • Handle administrative activities including purchases, travel arrangements, registrations and reimbursement requests for Family Advisors.
  • Performs daily tasks and duties on-site, maintaining a physical presence at the office/work location.

Client Support

  • Partner with Family Advisors as the first point of contact for DS Baker Advisors clients, consistently delivering exceptional client service by handling requests in a timely, thorough and accurate manner.  
  • Proactively problem-solve, researching client issues and providing solutions. Know each individual client and Family Advisor’s relationship well enough to act on a request in the absence of the advisor.
  • Provide customers with a variety of services related to their accounts and deposits, such as ATMs, CDs, IRA, Direct Deposit, safe deposit boxes, wire transfers, foreign currency, foreign drafts, online banking, Bill Pay, and eStatements, including lending or investment, needs as appropriate and opens all types of accounts. 
  • Coordinate, plan and oversee both internal and external DS Baker Advisors client events. 

Other DS Baker Advisors Functions and Responsibilities

  • Communicate on a regular basis with other DS Baker Advisors, informing of developments or client needs and helping transition clients to other relationship management teams as needed.
  • Work in an efficient manner to consistently deliver excellent client service, prioritizing multiple job tasks, meeting deadlines, and working on collaborative and independent projects.
  • Responsible for handling the full range of client deposit and digital product needs, maintaining a thorough knowledge and training in the Bank’s products, services, technology, policies, procedures, and federal regulations, as they pertain to duties.
  • Maintain client privacy and confidentiality as stated in our Code of Conduct and Ethics document.
  • Participate in Baker Boyer client and/or community events.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of and ability to deliver solutions centered on Baker Boyer products and services.
  • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office. Demonstrated ability to efficiently learn new applications and to proficiently use and interpret data provided by software tools.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent team facilitation skills; able to deliver professional and courteous contact with clients in-person, on the phone or through written correspondence.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships by portraying an approachable and open-minded outlook.
  • Exceptional time management skills, attention to detail and accuracy; ability to efficiently organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to take initiative; proven ability to work independently and with limited direction
  • Valid Driver License required.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a community college or technical school, four-year college or university in finance, business or related field preferred; or three + years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. General understanding of banking and/or financial services industry is highly beneficial. Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities to perform the job functions.

Ability to sit at desk and work on computer. Occasional travel required for business and training purposes.
