Drupal Front-End Developer

Consulting firm in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a permanent Drupal Front-End Developer with 6+ years of experience to join our web team. The ideal candidate will have experience in turning responsive design concepts into a working theme, diagnosing and fixing code issues, adding functionality, theme building, and building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications. Responsibilities include Drupal theme development, working closely with designers and back-end developers, enhancing functionality, participation in UI/UX decisions, enhancing Drupal functionality, and contributing to the overall development and enhancement of products.

General Requirements:

• Minimum BS/BA degree
• 6+ years on the job experience
• Ability to work as part of a project team as well as independently
• Must be self-disciplined with effective time management abilities, and able to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with shifting priorities
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• U.S. Citizenship and fluent in English

Technical Requirements:

• 6+ years of Drupal experience, front-end development, and theming
• The ability to build and modify Drupal entities and modules
• Must have strong skills in HTML5, Sass, JavaScript, and CSS
• Must have experience working with PHP, Twig, Symfony, Composer, JavaScript, and jQuery
• Must be able to write JavaScript with and without the use of frameworks such as jQuery, React, Vue.js
• Must have experience and be comfortable with debugging tools like Chrome inspector, Firebug, etc.
• Must have the ability to understand CSS changes to have a consistent style across platforms and browsers
• Must have the ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working, compliant HTML5
• Code management with GitHub or similar repository
• Strong communication skills which include the ability to convey concepts in an easy-to-understand manner, both verbally and written; active listening skills to gather key information from internal and external partners
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work in a high-paced environment, multi-task (prioritize and manage), and work both independently and as a team (team-building skills including courtesy, professionalism, and a “do whatever it takes attitude”)
• Other experience considered a plus:
• Familiarity with U.S. Web Design Systems standards (USWDS)
• Section 508 compliance experience
• Experience designing with Figma
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing responsive design websites
• Drupal migration experience
